Miss Jeanette Strauss has been bringing classic dance instruction to the Baltimore and Glen Burnie areas for over 70 years. Numerous students of Miss Jeanette have continued their dance education in colleges and universities. Several of these students have returned to the studio as both students and teachers. She also has former students who have achieved professional status on Broadway. She is an active member and former president of Dance Masters of America.
Herbert Strauss, the husband of Miss Jeanette, helped his wife open the studio in the late 1950s and assisted her in operating the Dance Studio until the day he died. During his years operating the dance studio, he is remembered for providing scholarships to many children who could not otherwise have been able to afford any dance lessons at all. Herbert Strauss is sorely missed by all who remember him.
Michele Smith, the daughter of Jeanette and Herbert Strauss, gracefully embraced the path of dance, culminating in her achievement of a degree in Dance and Dance Education from Towson State University. Carrying forward their remarkable legacy, she currently serves as the Artistic Director of Production at the studio, passionately nurturing the artistry and creativity of aspiring dancers.
